1. What is WIFI authentication?

Wi-Fi CERTIFIED is an internationally recognized product certification standard, indicating that a product has met industry-agreed standards in terms of interoperability, security, and a series of application-specific protocols. Wi-Fi CERTIFIED products have undergone rigorous testing at one of our independent authorized testing laboratories. When a product successfully passes the test, the manufacturer or distributor is authorized to use the Wi-Fi CERTIFIED logo. Certification signifies that a product has been tested in various configurations with other devices, which are selected in different ways, to confirm its interoperability with other Wi-Fi CERTIFIED devices operating on the same frequency band.

A wide range of consumer, enterprise, and carrier-specific products, including smartphones, home appliances, computers and peripherals, network infrastructure, and consumer electronics, can be certified. At the retail end, the Wi-Fi CERTIFIED logo gives consumers confidence that the product provides a good user experience and meets industry standards. Service providers and enterprise IT managers specify that products must be Wi-Fi CERTIFIED to reduce support costs and ensure that the product meets industry-agreed requirements. Only member companies of the Wi-Fi Alliance can conduct product certification testing and use the Wi-Fi CERTIFIED logo and related trademarks.

II. How to join as a member?

Joining the Wi-Fi Alliance is a key strategic element in providing Wi-Fi solutions and services. In our industry-leading collaborative forum, multiple future-oriented Wi-Fi and WiGig technologies are undergoing significant development. Our world-class certification program verifies the best user experience and grants the globally sought-after seal of approval. Since March 2000, Wi-Fi Alliance member companies have developed and launched more than 15 certification programs.

To date, our over 600 member companies have certified more than 15,000 products through our 18 authorized testing laboratories worldwide, and this number continues to grow. Joining our alliance and participating in our interoperability program and market development efforts ensures that you and your customers will have the best experience using Wi-Fi products and services.

Join us today as a member and let's jointly drive the development of the wireless future. Once your application is processed by our board of directors, Wi-Fi Alliance staff will typically send you a notification and invoice via email within ten working days. Your membership will be activated upon receipt of full payment by Wi-Fi Alliance. For existing members, we charge the annual membership fee for the following calendar year, and all dues must be paid by December 31st.

1. Full membership

Full members can assist in developing our certification program and related supporting technologies, certify products, and are entitled to a series of other benefits. The annual membership fee for full members is $15,000.

2. Affiliate membership

Affiliates of full members and sponsored-level members are eligible to enjoy a range of member benefits without incurring additional fees. Affiliates possess the same rights as full members, including the ability to use their company name to certify products, but voting rights are still held by enterprises with full membership or sponsored-level membership of the Wi-Fi Alliance.

For companies eligible to become affiliated members, full members or sponsor-level member companies must directly or indirectly (1) control the affiliated company; (2) be controlled by the affiliated company; or (3) be under the control of other companies together with the affiliated company (the same non-member company must simultaneously control both the member company and the affiliated company).

3. Implementer member

Implementer Members can authenticate their end products using previously certified Wi-Fi products. By leveraging the Wi-Fi CERTIFIED brand, Implementer Members offer users a straightforward path, ensuring interoperability and a consistently excellent user experience. Additional benefits include participation in three annual member meetings, access to programming diagrams, and verified technical specifications. The annual fee for Implementer Members is $5,000.

III. Classification of WIFI Authentication

1. New product certification: Wi-Fi certification is not inheritable.

2. Recertification: The product has already been certified; however, changes have occurred to the Wi-Fi-related parts of the product.

3. Model change: The product has been certified; the Wi-Fi-related parts of the product remain unchanged.
